The Hillsborough Community College Entrepreneurship Program, in partnership with Operation Startup and our local and national supporters offers various potential funding opportunities for your business. In addition, scholarships are available for Veterans and active duty service members enrolled in our college credit entrepreneurship program(s).

BUSINESS PITCH COMPETITIONS

Throughout the year, Operation Startup offers various business pitch competitions through our college credit program, the Veterans Entrepreneurship Training Symposium, the  Social Entrepreneurship Education Day, BizSprint, and other business pitch  events. The Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Fund

(EEVF)

 

Stop Talking, Start Doing

Through the bold vision, and generosity of the Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Fund Foundation, the HCC Entrepreneurship Program was able to secure a $250,000 matching seed fund grant for our students to launch and grow their businesses. Complete one of our entrepreneurship college credit certificates or degrees, get assigned to a business mentor/advisor, and qualify to apply into our $250,000 seed fund.

Funding options include:

1) Grants for funding requests up to $8,000.

2) Interest free loans for funding requests up to $35,000.

3) Below market interest bearing loans for funding requests up to $75,000.

Program Information

The EEVF seed fund is designed to give the everyday entrepreneur an opportunity to launch and grow a business. The hope is that these businesses will scale-up, and positively impact our community, while providing the business owner with an extraordinary opportunity to build a business that will transform their life.  Whether you have an idea for a business or an existing business already, we can help you business reach new heights through our entrepreneurship education programs, active mentoring, and funding through EEVF. We are here to help you meet the eligibility criteria below.

Funding Eligibility

Complete one of the HCC college credit entrepreneurship programs 

Complete a validated business model, feasibility plan, and set of financial statements.

Form a legal business entity.

Have a business website and short video that explains your business.

Completed EEVF funding application

STEP 1

Learn about the various entrepreneurship program tracks offered at HCC. Select a program that is best for you. We offer 12 and 25 college credit certificates, and AA and AS degress in entrepreneurship. Learn more 

STEP 2

Enroll at HCC. If you are already a student, skip to step 3. If you are a new student, begin the application process 

now. We have admissions and academic advisers that can help

STEP 3

Upon completion of your first two entrepreneurship courses, you will be assigned to a dedicated mentor who will help you complete your feasibility plan and financials, so you are prepared to apply for EEVF funding.

STEP 4

Complete your fourth entrepreneurship course, put together your EEVF application, and prepare to present in front of the funding committee. Your dedicated faculty members and mentor will hep guide you through this process.

STEP 5

Present in front of the EEVF funding committee. Funding rounds will occur twice per year, once in November, and once in May.  If you receive funding, you will be assigned to additional mentors, advising, and other resources to help you succeed.

 

Founded by retired Lieutenant Colonel Karen Mertes, the Fulfill Your Destiny Business Builders Grant  provides funding to everyday entrepreneurs that have experienced  life changing  events, and have fought hard to overcome these challenges.

Business Builders Grant Program

In 2017, Operation Startup, Hillsborough Community College, and Fulfill Your Destiny partnered together to launch the Business Builders Grant Program. This grant is offered several times  per year, and is awarded to those early stage entrepreneurs that have exhibited the ability to rise above a life challenge, and demonstrate persistence and a desire to build a business. We have had two rounds of funding thus far. The next round of funding will be in 2018. Check back soon for application details and more information.

FULFILL YOUR DESTINY PRESENTED FOUR $1000 BUSINESS BUILDER GRANTS’
IN THE SPRING OF 2017

Amanda Milligan with Excel Match, LLC;  Christopher Crist with CC’s Gourmet Products, LLC; Patricia Himes with La Belle Earth; and Rosie Lee with Divergent Dimension, LLC all receive a $1000 Business Builder Grant from Fulfill Your Destiny..  Clinton E. Day, Entrepreneurship Adjunct Professor wrote, “Kudos for the work you are doing.  You are truly walking the talk by helping with nano grants, an excellent way to reward and encourage wannabe entrepreneurs.”

FULFILL YOUR DESTINY PRESENTED A $1000 BUSINESS BUILDER GRANT
IN THE FALL OF 2017

Dan and Ericka Watson, both Veterans of our US Coast Guard and now owners of Evado Cattle Company, were awarded a $1,000 ‘Business Builder Grant’ at HCC’s 5th Annual Veterans Entrepreneurship Training Symposium.
